The World Sokol Federation is proud to announce the first edition of the Worldwide Sokol Walk 2026, a global fraternal event held under the official patronage of the World Sokol Federation. The Slovak Gymnastic Union Sokol of the USA, as the official host for 2026, warmly invites all Sokol members, their families, friends and supporters worldwide to participate in the Worldwide Sokol Walk 2026!
Participation Guidelines & Rules
About the event
The event commemorates the signing of the Pittsburgh Agreement on 31 May 1918 and the historic march of 28,000 Czechs and Slovaks through Pittsburgh. The walk takes place simultaneously on 30–31 May 2026 in every country where Sokol organizations operate. In future years the hosting organization will rotate among member countries of the World Sokol Federation. Host for 2026 is the Slovak Gymnastic Union Sokol of the USA.
How to participate
The walk is open to all Sokol members, their families, friends and supporters. You can participate as a group walk organized by your unit or lodge, or as an individual/family walk. There is no registration fee and no timing – it is a relaxed, non-competitive 5K walk.
Participation in the Worldwide Sokol Walk itself is open to everyone and does not require sending any photos or videos.
However, to be officially counted in the global total of participants, please do the following:
- Complete your 5K walk on 30 or 31 May 2026 (any time on the weekend, according to local time).
- Take 6–12 photos or record a short video (30–150 seconds) showing your group or yourself during the walk.
- Send the photos/video plus the information below to worldsokolf@gmail.com:
– Country
– Sokol organization / national federation
– Name of your unit / lodge / distict
– Approximate number of participants
– Name of the group leader and the author of the photos/video (for crediting)
- Send a second email to your national sport director/representative containing:
– Name of your unit / lodge / distict
– Approximate number of participants
– Name and contact details (phone/email) of the group leader
National representatives will compile the data and forward a short summary report to Fna240@verizon.net.
Important legal note
By sending your photos or video to worldsokolf@gmail.com you automatically give your consent for the World Sokol Federation to publish them on its official website, social media profiles (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), newsletters and promotional materials. The materials will be used only for non-commercial, promotional purposes of the Sokol movement. You retain copyright and the Federation will always credit the sender where possible.
Additional standard requirements
- Choose a safe route (park, public path, Sokol grounds, etc.) and obey all local traffic and safety regulations.
- Wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Sokol uniform or Sokol T-shirt is welcome.
- Stay hydrated, especially in warm weather.
- The event is family-friendly (participants of all ages and abilities are encouraged).
- Parents are responsible for children under 18.
- No political, commercial or religious banners are permitted during the official walk.
- You may share your own photos on social media using the official hashtag #WorldwideSokolWalk2026 and tag @WorldSokolFederation.
Reporting & compilation of results
All photos and videos must be received no later than 30 June 2026. The World Sokol Federation will compile the global total of participants and published photos/videos, sending a summary report to all national organizations in July 2026.
